Worship

Be exalted, O LORD, in your might; *
we will sing and praise your power. - Psalm 21:14

Sunday Worship

Prayer and worship are important aspects of most faith traditions. Prayer helps us communicate with God and seek to understand God. Coming together to worship can enhance this experience.

The Christian faith has a wide variety of expressions. Some churches are very formal, while others are more informal or even extemporaneous. Each expression has its advantages and disadvantages.

At Good Sam we seek the middle ground of this spectrum. The Episcopal Church follows a set liturgy (order of worship), which has some formality to it. The repetition of the prayers can help guide and form our understanding of God. Other elements of our worship are more contemporary. It is important to us that everyone feels welcome and included. Come as you are, and how you feel comfortable.

Both our 8 am and 10 am services follow the same pattern of prayer, music and scripture readings and communion (Eucharist). All baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion at Good Sam. At 8 am the service is quieter and more contemplative; there is some music, but we generally don’t sing. At 10 am the choir leads us, encouraging all to sing and make a joyful noise.

If you’re curious to know more about our 10 am service in particular, you can view prior services on our YouTube channel. You can also view our Book of Common Prayer online, or the service that we follow. You are always welcome to reach out to the clergy or other leaders with any questions.

We provide childcare and Sunday School at the 10 am service. Kids of all ages are also welcome to stay with their parents, grandparents, or guardians in our spacious sanctuary during the service. Drawing supplies and activities are available at the entrance.

Each service is followed by a Coffee Hour – a time to connect and visit with others from worship. Some Sundays, we also hold Forums or other opportunities for learning and growth.
