Join us for a short and simple said Eucharist service with readings, prayers and a sermon...
We all have gifts of the Spirit as well as desires to serve others and God in ways that give us joy, purpose, and a sense of connection to God and one another. Here are some ways to serve at Good Samaritan and in the wider community. Want to get involved but don't know where to start? Please email or call (858) 481-1501. We would love to hear from you!
A large number of people help make worship happen (in addition to our choirs). You can serve on the altar guild, the flower guild, as ushers or greeters, as a reader, a Eucharistic minister, a livestream producer, a provider of coffee hour snacks, and more. Email to explore ways to serve.
We enjoy both contemporary and traditional sources of music, which are produced by our Sunday choir, our children's choir, a variety of instrumentalists, and our bell choir. Email Julie Marner, our Director of Music, at , for more information.
We have a team of Sunday School teachers and aides, youth group leaders, and a Family Fun group of parents and children. To explore ways to volunteer in these ministries, email .
Our Community Life team arranges all of our major community events, such as our Summer Picnic, our Halloween party, movie nights, summer brunches, and more. The Men's and Women's groups also offer a number of social and formation offerings such as fundraisers and retreats. Do you like to cook? Decorate? Organize volunteers or events or games? This may be the ministry for you. Email to explore opportunities.
Good Sam participates in a large variety of outreach activities, and we offer opportunities for people of all ages to get involved. Whether you want to build a house in Tijuana, serve meals to those experiencing homelessness, or volunteer at a shelter, we can give you ways to serve the community. Email for more information.
We believe in putting our faith into action. Like the proverbial Good Samaritan in the Bible, we cannot just walk by those who are suffering, but do what we can to provide immediate relief and to bring about God's peace and justice in the world. Our Finance Committee reviews the monthly financial reports produced by our accounting firm, evaluates and implements revenue streams, manages our investments, coordinates the yearly pledge drive, counts and records online and in-person donations, oversees yearly audits, and advises the Vestry on all financial matters, including the yearly budget. Email to explore ways to serve this ministry.
Our Facilities team oversees maintenance and repairs of our two buildings on campus, the Worship Center and Roetter Hall. In addition, they oversee repairs at the rectory (housing provided to the rector, or senior pastor). To explore ways to serve, email .
Our Pastoral Care team tends to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our members. We provide meals for the sick and grieving, sew prayer quilts to give those going through a hard time, provide receptions for memorial services, pray for prayer requests, plan health and wellness forms, and more. To explore ways to serve in pastoral care, please email
At Good Samaritan, we encourage each other to explore new ideas and opportunities to serve our neighbors and our world. For example, recently we ran a Living Green ministry for one year to help our community learn about practical ways to conserve and protect God's beautiful creation. To continue this ministry—or start a new one—we need a leader like you! For more information, email .
