Capital Projects at Good Sam

The phrase “pastoral care” is familiar to many of you; for others, it may feel a bit unclear. At its heart, pastoral care is about offering holistic, person-centered support within a faith community. While there is a dedicated team at Good Sam, it is truly something we all share in as participants in the life of this community.
Pastoral care begins simply—with getting to know one another. It grows as we take a genuine interest in each other’s lives, remembering what has been shared and following up with care and curiosity. It deepens further when someone is facing particular challenges or hardships. These are often the moments we most associate with “pastoral care,” and they are times when clergy and lay leaders seek to respond with special attentiveness.
Each of us has a role to play. A kind word, a listening ear, or sharing a concern can make a meaningful difference. I am always grateful when members reach out—whether for themselves or on behalf of someone else. These connections allow me to respond more directly and to hold those needs in prayer.
If you have a pastoral concern or need, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Archdeacon Cindy Campos will also be assisting with pastoral care and is a wonderful resource. In addition, Susan Dorsey serves as the vestry liaison for pastoral care and as a Lay Eucharistic Visitor.
We are all part of this shared ministry of care. Thank you for the ways you already support one another, and for helping us continue to serve those in need at Good Sam.
Blessings,
Paul
