JUST ACTion

Good Sam's JUST ACTion ministry puts our faith into action. Jesus calls us to stand up for the vulnerable and work to bring about God's peace and justice in the world. Like the Good Samaritan in the Bible, we cannot walk by those who are suffering.

Below are examples of some of our social justice activities and collaborations. We are also open to new directions, according to the needs we see around us and how our congregation hears God's call. Do you have ideas and opportunities to offer? To learn more or join the JUST ACTion ministry, please email

Advocating for Our Community

Good Samaritan is rooted in faith-based organizing as a member of the San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP), a multi-faith church network. SDOP provides leadership training and connects us with opportunities to improve the lives of our neighbors through advocacy, public policy change, voter registration initiatives, meetings with local governmental bodies and candidates, and more.

Standing with Immigrants

JUST ACTion actively supports immigrants by participating in the FAITH program, ecumenical prayer vigils, letter-writing to immigrants in local detention facilities, and more. FAITH (Faithful Accompaniment in Trust and Hope) is an ecumenical ministry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and SDOP. Volunteers bear witness and provide pastoral care for individuals and families during their court hearings or ICE check-ins at the immigration courthouse in downtown San Diego.

Supporting Our Neighbors

Neighbors Blessing Neighbors organizes local community members to support our Muslim sisters and brothers attending Friday prayers at the Islamic Center of San Diego. We join them to share messages of love, welcome, and belonging.

Showing Love for Our LGBTQ+ Friends

An enthusiastic group from Good Samaritan marches with the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego in the San Diego Pride Parade to express our solidarity with the local LGBTQ+ community.
