Children and Youth

Our Children Grow in Faith

Welcome! Our goal is to help our children grow as followers of Jesus through Biblical knowledge, prayer, and service. We nurture godly behavior in children by creating a safe environment where they can speak the truth in love and listen with appreciation.

Children of all ages are welcome at our 8 am and 10 am Sunday services. At the 10 am service, they will be invited to join our preacher for a special Children's Moment—a conversation or activity centering on the day's Gospel message. The children may then attend Sunday School or rejoin their families for the remainder of the service.

Nursery & Toddlers

Good Sam nursery shelves

Our nursery for infants and toddlers is open from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on Sundays. Parents may bring their children to either the nursery or the sanctuary to worship with the congregation. The nursery stays open through the 10 am worship service, coffee hour, and adult forum.

Elementary School

Good Sam Sunday School

Children ages 4 and older join their families for the beginning of our 10 am service and a Children's Moment with the priest. They are then invited to Sunday school in the office area. After about 30 minutes of learning activities, they rejoin their families in the church for communion.

Middle & High School

Our older children are invited to serve as crucifers and acolytes. Some help out with Sunday school or in the nursery. Middle and high school students are encouraged to get involved with service opportunities. We value their talents, passion, care for the world, and committment to following Christ!

Nativity play

During Advent, youth of all ages practice with teachers to tell the nativity story through narrative, song, and dance. They grow in confidence, teamwork, and appreciation for the gift of Jesus. In a special Christmas Pageant, they enrich the Good Sam community with insight, humor, and celebration of God's arrival on Earth as an innocent child.

Safety

All teachers and youth volunteers are required to take several Safeguarding God's People classes to be sure that we maintain a safe environment for all at church.

If you have any questions or wish to learn more about our offerings for children and youth, please email . We look forward to connecting with you and your family!

Reporting Misconduct

The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego considers the reporting and investigation of misconduct to be of critical importance. Reporting enables the diocese to protect the complainant, the respondent, and the larger community. It also allows the diocese to assist with the spiritual, psychological, and emotional needs of all concerned during and after the report of misconduct. To learn more or to submit a report, please visit edsd.org/safe-church-safe-communities/reporting-misconduct/
