Join us for worship on All Souls' Day (October 31) and All Saints' Day (November 7) as we remember saints, martyrs, and loved ones. We will build an ofrenda, an altar that consists of brightly colored decorations and mementos of departed loved ones. This is a Mexican tradition celebrated as part of "Dia de los Muertos" and All Souls' Day which binds the living to the saints, to remind of us the narrowness of that bridge, and to bring to our minds fond remembrances of those who have passed on.
We invite you to contribute small photos and mementos of family members and friends who have passed away to the Good Sam ofrenda, which will be set up in front of our altar. We will display it Sunday, October 31 through Sunday, November 7. Bring your items to church on Sunday, October 24 or 31, or to the church office before October 31. As you consider items to bring to honor your deceased loved ones, here are some additional ideas:
favorite recipes, beloved music, favorite books and magazines, crosses or crucifixes, candles, hats and shawls, favorite shot glasses or dishes, and toys or games for children who have died. The sky is the limit!
