One of the goals of our Worship Committee is to enhance the beauty of our worship space. We saw the amazing talents of our artists on display during our auction last year, and we’d like to try out what it would be like if our sanctuary was filled with beautiful art representing the sacred.
Now’s your chance to join this curated art show. The theme is “Sacred”. Our hope is that artwork will draw the viewer into a deeper sense of God. As this is our sanctuary, a group of curators will look for inspiring works that avoid potentially disturbing images of violence, etc. Some pieces may be hung in the halls for easier “close up” viewing. Small artworks will be grouped together for maximum impact on our walls.
Start creating! Artworks will go up August 5 and stay up for a few weeks as we try out this new liturgical expression. Paintings, mixed media work, or any art form that can be hung on our wall is welcome.
Not an artist? No problem. The beauty of art is that it lies in the eye of the beholder. Let us know how you feel about seeing art in the sanctuary. Does it add something to your worship?
Artists: along with your carefully packaged, ready to hang artwork, please include a sheet with your name, contact information (so we can be sure the piece returns to you or that you can be reached in case someone wants to buy it), title of the piece, and a few sentences about your piece and how it represents the sacred to you.
You can drop off your art starting on Sunday, July 22. More details to come.
